JAMES G. NOWAKOWSKI
JAMES NOWAKOWSKI received his law degree in 1983
from Marquette University Law School. Jim's practice involves defending
self-insured employers and insurance companies in worker's compensation
cases. Jim is a frequent seminar speaker for the State Bar of Wisconsin
and the National Business Institute concerning worker's compensation
and related employment issues. Jim is a member of the State Bar
of Wisconsin and a past vice-president of the Milwaukee Insurance
Adjusters Association. Jim was formerly with the firm of Halling
& Cayo for 13 years, 10 of which was as a partner.

STEPHEN J. McMANUS
STEPHEN J. McMANUS is a 1993 graduate of the University
of Arizona College of Law where he was selected for the advanced
trial advocacy course and served an internship with the Pima County
Superior Court. Before starting Nowakowski & McManus, LLP, Steve
served in the Judge Advocate General's Department of the United
States Air Force and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
While in the Air Force, Steve earned numerous awards and medals
including two Air Force Commendation Medals, an Air Force Achievement
Medal, and the Commander's Excellence Award. He was also selected
as a Command Briefer for Headquarters Third Air Force, RAF Mildenhall,
England, and as such, was the designated public relations officer
on behalf of the Air Force with numerous U.S. and international
dignitaries.
In 2000, Steve joined the firm of Halling &
Cayo, S.C., where he practiced in the area of litigation with a
primary emphasis on military defense, worker's compensation, insurance
defense, and professional licensing. Steve continues to serve as
a reservist, responsible for recruiting at all law schools in northern
Illinois and Wisconsin.
Steve is married to Moira (née Dempsey)
of Wilmette, Illinois, and they have five children.
